exam traffic

Exams are approaching for university students in Canada. This period typically starts from the second week of April untill the end of the month. I’m done on the 17th, but if you’re unlucky, like at UBC, you could be stuck until the bitter end! I’m pretty sure that I’ll return home to Vancouver before most of the friends there are done.

But Exam Traffic

As most of you know, my friends and I launched picaday.ca last Monday. So far with Google Analytics, we have seen a gradual increase in traffic over the week. We’ve gotten approx 372 visits according to GA. Will this traffic increase over the exam period as people find more and more reasons to procrastinate?
I wish we could see the stats to FML or collegehumour, maybe even digg and reddit. I wonder if their sites see an increase in Canadian traffic.

I’ll post again through the exam period to comment on this. Perhaps I’ll have more blog posts then to rant about random things.

I take no responsibility if you clicked the links above and are now about to spend countless hours on the interweb

Update: my friend Doug informed me that digg and collegehumour use quantcast for stats tracking, you can view their stats here

Riding across Canada

For the last month or so, I’ve been helping my friend Garret Reynolds, get his website launched for his bike-across-Canada this coming spring. He’s finishing off his M.ENG at the University of Guelph this semester. No he’s not doing this solo, he’ll be accompanied with his friend Dylan along the entire journey.

They will be starting off in Victoria, BC. (I guess you gotta start somewhere and Vancouver Island is the place!) Then they’ll head through Vancouver and make their way through the Rockies and somehow end up in Newfoundland.

Since I am from Vancouver, I’ll probably spend a few days prior to their trip giving them a hand in getting the last few things together. I believe they’re aiming to start on May 1st, 2009.

Updates to follow in the next few weeks!

For now, check out his website

Note: I have nothing to do with his layout and design; I was only there for technical aid.

vancouver city cameras

Hang the cameras and leave them up there after! I don’t know about you, but I have nothing to hide….
Europe/UK have tons of cameras, I think people in North America complain too much.
Whats the point in installing all this infrastructure for 4 months of use, only to tear it down after? Put it to good use! Maybe it’ll lower the drug and crime problem we have.

CSE/NSA already have the systems to monitor you anyways. (no, I’m not a conspiracy theorist; this is more-or-less reality)
