The Capilano Bridge sits off the north end of the Lions Gate bridge in West Vancouver. It is an integral part of the commute from the North Shore to Vancouver for many people everyday. The BC Provincial Government recently decided fund a $40 million project along with the Government of Canada’s $290 mill infrastructure stimulus fund project to refit a new bridge to ease congestion.
The project website is here – Old Capilano Bridge if you’re more interested in whats going on.
Anyways, I don’t care a whole lot about the politics behind the bridge. What was cool are the time-lapses involved when they temporarily moved the old bridge over so they can construct the new bridge in its place.
There are 2 timelapse videos & 1 animation:

Well I must apologize for the lack of writing. I am far too lazy. Given the choice between sitting here and reading random crap on the internet versus writing about my trip, I chose the easier one…haha
There’s just too much to tell! I know some of you are waiting to hear, especially those who I won’t be seeing for a long time in Ontario, I promise to try and get something up here soon!
In the meantime, I’m almost done going through all my photos from my trip and have begun posting them on picaday.ca I’ll post a photo every day for the next while until I run out. I took a good 3-4k photos in 2 weeks so it should keep me going for a while. On the side, I have checked our d300 and the pro-lenses in for a warranty check/service and cleaning with Nikon Canada. All free 🙂
Also, While I was away, I saw this post by a local Vancouver Police officer. It pretty sums up my drives to Whistler. Very frustrating….and annoying. When driving on a highway, keep your eye on who’s behind you and move over for them…please! You might prevent an accident from happening! [click]
That’s all for now, I will be starting with NBC a week today!
Behind the Blue Line >> Can you Answer This?
Well I haven’t posted for a while. Its been a busy summer! I’ve been working a lot of hours at Summer at St. George’s and by the time I get home, I have little-to-no energy to really do anything else but relax. Kids are stressful!
After about 3 months, my friends are STILL biking across Canada. They have 2 more provinces to go! Stay up-to-date for their finish via Twitter or their website.
Congratulations to Cornel Dobrin who successfully set a new Guinness World Record for biking across Canada. He cut the previous record by 3 days, completing the journey in a speed 24 days from Vancouver to St. John’s Newfoundland. Amazing! Canada.com
Lastly, if you follow my twitter or have me on facebook; you may have noticed that I watched entourage….well…I still don’t really know, but I’m guessing about 5 times over and over again. I had a bike accident in the Bike park at Whistler on July 19th, 2009. I awoke in Vancouver about 6 hours later with a Grade II Concussion and 3-5 stitches on my upper lip. Thankfully I didn’t break any bones; I also thank my helmet for saving my face/mouth/head from further damage! It took me approximately 5 days to fully recover and regain my memory back. Super bizarre! Feel free to take a look at some photos from the accident.
WEAR YOUR HELMET WHEN YOU RIDE! NO EXCEPTIONS!
